The printing activity in the Romanian Countries in the 16th – 18th centuries Volume 3

After the second volume of the series HELLENOSLAVICA / HELLENOSLAVICA, in the present volume he presents rich data on the formation of the Romanian language, he speaks about the typographical activity that took place during the 16th – 18th centuries in the Romanian Lands. An important number of books were printed during this period, especially in the field of education. It is worth noting that the printing activity in the Romanian Principalities played a very important role in the formation of the Romanian language. When the art of printing arrived in the Romanian Lands, Slavic language dominated the written language of the time, both in ecclesiastical texts and in official state documents. Thus, the first books printed in the Romanian Principalities were written in Slavic. However, it was not long before books were printed in Romanian. The printing activity helped and played a very important role in replacing Slavic with Romanian.
