The Homeric Odyssey can undoubtedly be considered a symbol of the great adventure of the Pontians, a people of Greek-Ionian origin and with a history that goes back to the depths of the centuries. Between constant wars with empires and hordes of barbarians, between periods of autonomy and slavery, the Pontians have maintained a miraculous purity of population in their regions and together they have managed to preserve their Greek national consciousness, their customs and their language.
Honoring the Ionian origin and history of the Pontians, honoring the victims of the genocide, the translator of the Odyssey, the editor and those who worked for the realization of this publication, dedicate it to the Pontians who survived and recently returned to Greece, but also to those who are still in Pontos and the surrounding areas, in the hope that we will treat them in a way worthy of their origin and history.
