Description
In this broader field of scientific research, in which the academic study of Hymnography is also included, many studies have been presented in recent years on the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete (circa 660-740). However, despite the fact that, both in Eastern and Western Christendom, numerous
studies have been carried out, a study which includes and systematizes all the doctrinal concepts of the basic work of St. Andrew is still missing from the literature.
With this gap in mind, the present study entitled “The Doctrinal Teaching of the Great Canon of St. Andrew of Crete” attempts to fill this gap.
This effort is fully in line with my reflection on the doctrinal issues raised by the work of St. Andrew of Crete and his doctrinal contribution at a time when the great theological debates were slowly beginning to “decline”.
