The teaching of Basketball

The book “The Teaching of Basketball” is the distillation of at least 30 years of scientific involvement and coaching experience of people who come from and approach the sport of basketball from different sports sciences and have served it from different coaching positions. In this book an attempt is made to approach the sport in a modern and scientific way. Of course, everything starts from the developmental ages where all the conditions for future high performance are formed. At these ages, children need to acquire sports education, learn the basic skills and understanding of the sport, develop the physical abilities required for high performance and protection from injury, but also to shape their personality. Thus, this book includes chapters on: skills – technique, teaching methods, individual and team tactics, fitness and performance evaluation. Also included are a large number of exercises, teaching – training units for basketball and fitness development programmes, as well as tests – tests that every coach and teacher of physical education can easily carry out without special equipment. We believe that this book will enrich the scientific literature of basketball in developmental ages, will be a “useful tool” in the hands of Basketball Coaches, Physical Education Teachers and Students of the Departments of Physical Education and Sports Science and will help in the further development of the sport in our country.
